August Wilson Monologue Competition Free Workshop for High School Students

The August Wilson Monologue Competition (AWMC) is recruiting high school students for an exciting national competition.

In summer and fall 2014, the AWMC, sponsored by the August Wilson Red Door Project,  will bring one-hour, interactive workshops to classrooms and community organizations. In these fun, hour-long sessions presented by professional actors, students will:

  • Learn about August Wilson, a Master of American drama, and chronicler of the African American experience in 20th century America.
  • Get the chance to perform monologues and scenes.
  • Apply for the AWMC, where they will receive professional training, support and connections to opportunities, all at no charge to them.

The benefits of participation in the AWMC extend way beyond theatre training or competition.  All participants grow in confidence and deepen understanding of their community and world as they interact with August Wilson’s influences, language, themes and characters.

No charge for workshop or for any AWMC activities!
