True Colors Theatre and Jujamcyn Theaters have announced the winners of the 2012–2013 August Wilson Monologue Competition, after the finals at New York City’s August Wilson Theater. This year’s winner is Pittsburgh’s Thembisile Gxuluwe. Pablo Lopez from Los Angeles was runner-up, and Chicago’s Branndin Phillips-Laramore took home Honorable Mention.

We’d like to congratulate the winners and all the participants in this year’s August Wilson Monologue Competition, and we can’t wait for next year, when the August Wilson Red Door Project brings the competition to Portland. Are you a competitor, or know someone who would like to get on stage? RSVP for our June 3rd Educators Workshop at SEI.
